The case of the baffling bentwood chair

I have researched this chair to death and can't find ANYTHING like it or similar. The one unusual aspect of this chair is the way it is constructed. All the rivets....are put through a dowel to hide them or the dowel is used to strengthen the chair. The construction of the pedestal which the chair sits on is not typical. The front to back legs are made of one bent piece with a bentwood support which is riveted to each leg. If you can help me place this chair it would be appreciated.
