I just now found the CW site, and am still in the process of setting up my account. I am excited about the prospect of the future posting of my "Finds".

When I bought this clock at an antique store in Las Cruces NM for $50, all that it came with was the clock case, gong rod bracket and pendulum. About 6 years later, I was in another antique store in the same town and found a wicker basket containing the clock movement, weights and the bottom center finial. Right away, I was absolutely sure that not only was it the correct one for my clock case, but that it also was the exact one that came with my clock case, in the 1890's. The price for the movement, weights and finial was $36, on sale for $31.

When I got home, I found out that it fitted perfectly into my clock case. Later, while window shopping on Ebay, I saw a vendor that had the same, identical movement, and weights, (but no pendulum), as mine; when the auction ended, it sold for $510 (imagine that).

I've constantly looked on Ebay and Google Images, trying to find a picture of what the top crown is supposed to look like, but I haven't found anything yet. Also, the 2 bottom unstained finials are ones that I had in stock that seem to harmonize with the center one.

If anyone out there knows what style of crown and bottom finials are correct for my clock and could post a picture of them, so that I could fabricate them for it, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

      Hi,
A wonderful clock and a fantastic price. These are also called Grande Sonnerie clocks, but also blind man's clocks as they repeat the hour at every quarter, so that if it were for example 11 o'clock, on the first quarter it would strike 11 times so the blind person would know it was 11:15 and so on. Hope that makes sense!
      Regards.

Thanks for the info; I really like this type of movement. And the total price for the clock was great. I just need to get or make the correct crown for it.
