I found this beautiful 11" ruffled bowl at Salvation Army the other day. It sort of reminds me of a Morning Glory flower. It has a very silky satin finish to the touch. When tapped it has a rather low but very clear bong sound to it. At first I thought Burmese glass but it lacks the yellow caused by the uranium content and it's a bit too white. So I'm stuck with guessing. Is it Fenton, Mount Washington-Pairpoint-Gunderson, Webb or just and odd piece from an unknown. It is marked on the bottom with what looks like "Bennett". However the lady from processing at Salvation said she thought it was just the name of the owners and they took an engraving pen to it . I didn't find anything online linked to Bennett and this type of glass so maybe she's right. So it could be old or newish but it's still a beauty ! -Mike-
?? There is a David Bennett Art Glass studio but he makes items that flow with motion -- so I do NOT think it is him............??
Hi Rose :)...yes I did see that too...very modern glass. So maybe it's not even Bennett. Those last two letters look like a "th" to me or maybe even "ty" . A bit of a puzzler.
Yes i thought the last 2 letters looked like *ty* to me.......?? As my first thought
...or could they be " BENNETHY " or something like that.
Nice bowl - quite big too. No idea with the name sorry Mike.
Thanks Karen :) ..it looks quite similar to a lot of Victorian Bride's bowls I've seen online. Not quite as fancy and a lot were in silver and plated mounts. Either as baskets or pedestal centerpieces.
Hi Mike, Your collection sure has grown, so many beautiful pieces. Keep up the good work!
Hi Pops and thanks...yes it has....more than I care to mention ...lol. A lot has moved on to new homes through my booth at the co-op. It was time to downsize. :)
Very nice find mike. So happy to hear you are doing well with the co-op!! :)
Thanks so much OGF ....Yes so far so good :)
