This is a piece I picked up at a local thrift store 10 years ago. I thought it would make a great "first" collection item, as in 10 years, I have yet to identify it.
It is 5 3/4" high, stem bottom is 3 3/4", necks i.d. is 2 1/2", widest measurement (middle) is 4 1/2".
If you ask me, it looks like a combination of Bohemian or Italian on top (due to the nature of the blown glass composition, I have heard it called
aborigeni or mottled). See the bubbles? And it looks like a depression glass bottom, with a clear applied glass handled to combine them. lol.
I can tell you one thing, this is definitely hand blown to perfection! Everything about it is proportionally accurate, as far as craftsmanship.
If anybody has a clue about this piece, please don't be shy to comment. It is definitely one of my stranger Art Glass finds!
I just joined CW, so there are many things to show you and a LOT of stories to go with them. I am glad I found CW. Seems like a friendly family. Hope to share, as often as able!
Definitely a new shape to me! I like it :)
Welcome to CW where some people know stuff but we all have lots of stuff!
Thanks for the comment. Means a lot to rub elbows with people that love the same kind of "stuff" that you do! The passion I have is so great for rummaging for treasures, others think mere junk, it really is a bummer I can't go out and peruse more, do to my illness! I can't even drive anymore...... Stuff is a great way of defining what it is I am into, because, I have an eye for more than just Art Glass at this point. Besides, that's what my wife calls my abundance of treasures I have amassed over the years. LOL!
From what I have seen and read, so far, this is a GREAT site and glad I joined up with people, like you, that love the same STUFF!
Thanks for the warm welcome! I hope I can help, as well as share!
Westred it sound like you are a perfect fit for CW, or as Blunderbuss calls it, the cyber asylum. Please keep posting!
Welcome to CW!!
Your glass piece is different!! Never have seen anything like it
