This is an 8 day cuckoo from the 50's maybe... We bought this at an auction in our little town. They were auctioning off the estate of the folks who for many years ran the only store in town. The old "general" store is long since gone... Along with a canning plant and a few other small concerns... My wife has fond memories of Mr. Nock's Store from when she was small though. She bought pop and penny candy there. She doesn't remember the clock being in the store at that time so it may have been something from their house. Still, we enjoy knowing that it was part of their lives and part of the history of our small community. It's in our living room now.
I have one just like it. got it at a flea market about 15 years ago. wish all my cuckoo clocks were eight day.
I bought this one about ten years ago... I had to replace the bellows and give it a good cleaning.
Sorry Toolate2, I meant to say I have a cuckoo clock like yours
LOL... I didn't think you meant that you had this particular clock! You should post yours. Maybe they'll get together!!
Thanks ticktock!
Thanks Tony!!
Thanks tt!!!
When I was stationed in Germany in 1961 I bought a cuckoo clock like yours for my folks for Christmas. They had that clock for forty years before they had to have the bellows replaced. Best 25 dollars or 100 marks I have spent on a gift.
LOL... Nice story ttom! I love the old clock. It's kind of loud and obnoxious but hey, so are a lot of the people I love! Happy New Year!!!
Thanks junkmanjoe and tom61375!!
Nice clock. I just took ours down for the last time. I bought it in Germany also during the 1960's while stationed there the first time. The wood is dry and cracking but the clock works seem fine. I will probably part it out.
fhrjr2, We love the old clock! The top bird was broken off and I glued him back on. You can't tell from the front at all but you can if you flip it around...lol.. You should post your clock before you part it out. Give the old girl a proper send off...
I may do that because I just recently took it down to look at the markings on the works so I could research them. I think the works are worth more today than I paid for the whole clock in the 60's.
Thanks again agh!!!
Thanks shawnicus, and fortapache!!
Thanks you Gate Keeper!!
