This was a companion piece to the WW1 tankard with spiked helmet that I already posted. They came together along with a soldiers memorial. All belonged to Private Mullheim of the 7th Infantry Regiment and probably date from the very early war era.

The pickelhaube is probably about 1/2 to 3/4 size.

This helmet is made out of a large shell base that has been reshaped to an oval shape (approx. 5 1/2" X 6 1/2"). It stands about 7 " from base to the tip of the spike. Additional sheet brass has been added to create the front and back visors. It has lead cockades and small thin brass has been joined for the scale chin strap. Thin hammered and cut sheet brass was used for the Eagle plate.

This shows incredible workmanship and attention to detail. I have a few small size pickelhaubes, but this is the only one I have ever seen of this size.

Awesome! Very nice piece! brass ones are hard to find! I got a leather one dated 1918! Thanks for sharing! :)

Thanks Driewer-- this is a half sized model of a helmet meant for display, not a useable helmet for soldier wear.

Post your pickelhaube when you get a chance.
