VINTAGE-DUST
(7 items)
With garage sale estate sale season here I'm sure the site busier than ever today I was at an estate sale and this particular dagger stood out. I do not collect knives or have very much knowledge I'm sure it was a tourist type item but the material of the sheath and handle have me intrigued it has a plastic type feel and is porous upon closer inspection I would assume some type of animal bone
Any insight would be most helpful
This is SUPPOSED to be a Malaysian kris. It's actually a tourist souvenir - what collectors call "airport art." The handle and sheath are composite cast plastic. The evidence of this is the numerous small spherical holes in the polished surface as seen in your close-up photo. Kris sheaths and handles are almost always wood. The blade is a bit short and shows none of the refinement of its finish one would expect to find in the genuine article.
