Hre are a few more of the photos I have in my collection. Most of my collected photos are passed down to me from family and most are actually photographed by my senior relatives from the beginning of photography until the recent past. When the camera was invented before the 20th century, the 1800's, photos were taken by Slate Photography. This is when the photographer used a large camera which stood on a tripod. He or she would then cover there head with tarp to reduce lighting as they peered through the lens. They would then, with one hand slide a photo slate into the side of the camera. The other hand would hold up the f;ash bulb and upon triggering a bright flash, the image refracted into the lens would be imprinted into the slate from the light of the flash. Now through the advances of technology our photos are now digital along with video and can be transmitted from one device to another all around the world and even from a lone unmanned craft traveling way out past the furthest reaches of our solar system sending back to us on Earth images of planets and other characteristics of our galaxy and places we have yet to travel tool. We enjoy soo many things in life from photos and video. Memories, amazing sites and things we want to learn about. They take us to places we would only dream of before. This is my passion for photos and I could just go on for hours talking about them. I will leave that for later with more to come. Slate Photography is were it all started and the earliest of my collection, on up to the black and white film, to color film, polaroid, up to the current digital age of modern times. A picture is worth a thousand words and I have thousands of precious photos in my overall collection. Thank you for letting me share them with you .

Yes digital technology is a blessing. My descriptive details may have been more than necessary, although I do believe there are folks out there who just do not comprehend certain things unless they are spelled out for them in detail.. lol

Never heard the term "slate photography"-- what exactly are you describing with the term?

I was incorrect about the " slate " photography. It is actually " plate photography ", or " wet plate " photography. I will go back to edit my post. Thank you for pointing that out.

Not sure if you are including the daguerreotype in what you call "plate" or "wet plate" photography.

The daguerreotype was the first practical and commercial photograph. "Wet plate COLLODION" images were later.

I had these old photos passed down to me through my family generations. I am realizing that the info I learned of them may have been incorrect. I was going on what I was told about them and did not research them myself. Could you please offer a suggestion for me to find out the correct information on them, such as a website I can go to? I am new to sharing my items and their history publicly and if I am wrong on anything I would like to correct my information as soon as possible. I would appreciate your advice..
