Bought at thrift store. Hanging on rope. Glass front door with brass. Body is probably walnut look Bakelite. With winding key. Strange etching on back by J. Kaiser. Haven't found picture or value anywhere after searching more than 10000 clocks. My guess from typeface etc is from Baden-Wurttemberg circa 1920's

Hi and Welcome.....on the front face of your clock, at the bottom of the face plate -- does it say in small letters anything?? Like "Made in West Germany" or anything?
As I had one something like this a long time ago ( it was on a rope but square ) with an Art Deco face -- and I believe it was West Germany....I think, If I recall correctly !!

Kaiser is indeed a German maker. However, your clock is more than likely from the 1950's-60's and not the 1920's.

It doesn't say West Germany or the acronym for it. It is signed by J. Kaiser who died in 1940. It is made from Bakelite which doesn't fit with the 1960 + era. It is not Quartz either. It must be pre 1940 which still fits with my theory quite well.
I did find a reproduction model made after Kaiser reopened as a company. It is wood, Quartz and has a none deco typeface. Since it states it is a reproduction it was clear to me it was incredibly similar to mine except it was made when Kaiser reopened in 1948 until the early 70's.
The key clue is the inscription on the back witch is rather strange. I spoke with a Deutsch watchmaker and he thought he'd seen nearly all of his models at some point. He seemed to think this was much less common/ mass produced.
The clock still keeps time.
This brings back memories - we had one when I was growing up in the 1960s
