I recently acquired this in an estate sale and was wondering if any one had any information on the person in this portrait. As far as if it is signed or its real I do not know all I know was that it was at a house with other antiques. I did not tear up the wood frame because I hate to damage work of art real or fake. I know that it was bought in the 1970s for 25.00 there was a tag on it and it was ripped off by the estate sale owner. Thank You for any information on this piece.
I did an Image search using one of the photos, and apparently there is no other picture of her on the internet. Is this an actual oil on canvas or something else?
An oleograph should be easily recognized on close inspection. If really oil on canvas then it`s a beautiful young mid _Victorian lady and exceptionally well painted.
This did not look like an actual oil to me. I have a couple and it does not have the depth in the paint that an oil should. I do know that it is on a wood panel that has deviation when observed in a lit room about every inch going across the wood panel. I bought it because I liked it. I believe you are right in it being an oleograph too. Thank you for all you help if anyone is able to find the name of the female in question I would still like the info. It is so hard now to find any information about alot of etch oil print etc. People tend to tear all the frames up and ruin its natural form real or fake.
