I know nothing of this item's history; I found it in a thrift store. I saw it and had to have it. I love its size, weight, color, and design. I've been doing watercolor paintings of clear glass items, and thought this would make a terrific subject. I paid 90 cents for it (I really love that thrift store!). It is clear glass with a lightly grey tint to it; I don't think it's crystal, just heavy glass. It measures approximately 5" across and 3" high. I can find no markings on this piece. I am conducting internet searches trying to learn information, but am having no luck yet.

      Hi and welcome to CW.
Your ashtray looks very much like an art deco piece to me. Are the bottoms of the feet(?) a frosted glass. I can also see a chip to the bottom of the foot in the middle picture.
The colour in the photos looks blue rather than grey? It could be Scandinavian glass - have a look at the CW article below.

Oh, and I just love it. (Not PC but what can I say)

Thanks! And yes, the bottoms of the feet are indeed frosted. The chip you see is the only chip I can find on the piece (and I'm happy with that, especially for the price I paid!). I think the blue-ish tint in the pictures may be due to the light I was using...in natural day light, it appears more grey to me. I have done internet search after search for "deco glass ashtray" (and any number of combinations of those terms with additional terms, but I haven't had any luck. I will definitely check that article! Thanks so much!
