Picked this up today because it looked like a nice flower pot. This may be a bowl instead. It is signed but I cannot make out the signature. It looks like it starts with a M and may have an f in it as well...

I love the finish on this with the white mostly washed away and a tiny touch of black dripped on the rim and the black ring on the bottom.

    Its a great piece!

Thanks to myhermitude for identifying this. This is from McCarty Pottery in their nutmeg glaze.

McCarty Pottery by the late Lee & Pup McCarty, Merigold, Mississippi. The green line represents the Mississippi River. McCarty pottery has a website. It is run by the family which continue the studio.

The finish isn't washed away. It is a glaze called nutmeg, Lee McCarty's favorite glaze and unique to their pottery. Very collectible, good find!

Wow thank you for the ID! I have been actively looking and trying to figure out who the artist was because I love the piece and would love to have more. Its great that its collectible but that just means its going to be that much harder to collect. Tough problem to have :)
