This ring was made by Zoltan White. It is a large impressive ring, it as been well worn. There is a large central stone and four smaller stones around the central stone. I'm not sure what the stones are, the seller said they were peridots, but I can't tell, I think the copper strips below the stones have been damaged. As for age, I'm not sure, Zoltan White was active between 1900-1940. White was apprenticed in Budapest and his jewellery shows this Austro-Hungarian influence. At the back of the ring there are marks for Zoltan White, sterling and either PA FA. Inside the ring it is decorated with a ornate scroll design, a feature that alludes to Whites Austro-Hungarian training.
    Many thanks for looking

Jean - well worn, slightly beat up jewelry always interests me because these pieces have all had another "life" before coming to me. I don't care if something is a bit scratched, a little bent or a bit oddball in appearance.

I agree Bonnie, it has history, which makes it interesting. I always wonder whether any of my pieces have had a front room seat, when some historic event as happened, that would be something, unfortunately we shall never know.

Jean, from a distance the stones look like moss agate, but closer up they could be low grade emeralds. But I've never seen a Z&W piece with emeralds.

Kyra will probably know. I think Austro Hungarian is a little underpriced in the market at the moment. Buying at the mid to lower end is probably good value.

Hi Jewels1900, I don't think these stones are a low grade emerald, I've tried the stones on my diamond selector and they register at 7 which means it is a stone of some kind but not a emerald that registers at around 9. I keep looking for Zoltan & White pieces but they are very difficult to come across, at the right price. Thanks for your import, you always help me greatly with your comments. I hope the baby is well, and keeping you busy, hopefully not to busy that you can visit us on CW..
