An another find from flea market from this sunday. I paid 4 EUR. The seller left this beauty outside in the rain - this should be punishable by law! (just joking :D )
Sadly some pearls are missing - I plan to replace them with beads in similar size - If I can find them.
I dont know how old it is - looking vintage to me though. I found no markings. Ddo you have any additional information on this piece?
Thank you! I have never seen pearls of this texture. I think I will just replace them with ordinary pearl beads. I have some.
Beautiful wounded necklace!
The pearls look like Miriam Haskell baroque pearls, you must be abble to find some spare :-)
Thank you!
I don't think pearls are original to the necklace, it may have had rhinestone or glass drops.
Interesting, so I could add glass drops there...but I like it this way as well.
Washing them and rainwater can mean death to the rhinestone backing, never a good idea to combine beautiful necklaces and water.
I tried to dry it with a hairdryer, hopefully no damage was done.
Oh this is so glamorous. I think vintage, if those are AB crystals, and judging together with the clasp and settings, maybe 50s?
There are several ways to handle the missing pearl issue, one is to fill in the middle spaces and take off the red crystals from the edges, leaving only completed sets. Or again fill in with pearls in the middle and add smaller pearls to the red crystals at the end which would give it a graduated look. Or alternate completed sets with sets completed with something else, like a large cab or stone of some sort.
Thank you Katherine! Glad you like it!
Those are not AB - the smaller ones are with some copper-looking paint. The red ones are red without any additional colour.
I like the graduated pearls way - nice idea! I think i will go for this one.
Thank you!
