My best guess is that it slid into some kind of mount on the wall and held a kerosene lamp.

What was it, and when is it from???

Top rim is about 5.5 inches across. Bottom rim is about 5 inches across. Arms's length not including rim is about 3.5 inches across. Shave off a bit from each measurement and there ya' go. LOL.

Good guess; it's a kerosene lamp bracket. The stud that points down went into a small iron wall-mounted holder and the stud that points up held a mercury-glass reflector.

      Thank you, Uncle Ron.

I have a 1910s lamp that should fit, but my only reflector is attached to another piece already.

When did they stop making them like this particular one?
