I found this brass flat button at a crossing or campsite of a Texan revolutionary army. It has a blister-crack on the front. No writing on front or back. There were reenactments done in the area 20 to 30 years ago, so it makes me wonder if it's a replica off of a reenactor's uniform. The shank is as though it's cast with the rest of the button, but there are round marks on each end of the shank. Is this construction consistent with the period? No solder around the shank. Need help with id'ing this as possibly from the period or a modern replica. Thanks!
