They look like they'd work as porcelain pot lids. But is that what they are? The first was a gift to someone, as what is left of some gold painted words say, and the second is transferware of roses. They're about 6.5 inches across.
I'm wondering age on them?
The second one looks like a Victorian bread plate, if you google it, lots of similar items will come up. I'm not sure about the one with a blue rim.
Are you sure they are porcelain? To me it looks they are earthenware.
Seems odd for a plate.
The second rosey one looks just like my other porcelain pieces. The first blue one has a more bumpy texture.
Hold them to a light source, like a lamp. If you see the light comes through, it's porcelain. It's translucent, while the earthenware isn't. If there is a chipped area, at earthenware this feels chalky and looks white when the chipping is new, however if the chip is old it's becoming darker. Porcelain chips are very sharp, you can cut your fingers on it and the chipped area stays white.
