    This is a small medallion to hang on the wall - made in Italy. i think that it has some kind of catholic meaning, but i'm not sure. does anyone know what these are called and what they are used for?

      Babe in swaddling clothes ???

      But the pottery is Florentine ... probably for the tourist market.
      That blue background and the garland border are typical of 'della Robbia' pottery.
