Bought this from an old Fri who was selling her parents estate. Fine wood carving of a Japanese crane. Light colored wood and detailed carving. Looking for any info as to origins, artist, age, etc. About 20 inches tall.
I think you have there a Balinese wood carving, not Japanese antique :-)
Beautiful subject!
Thank you so much for your response. Now I have a starting point in which to identify this piece.
I have one just like it and it is Not Japanese as kyratango states . It is a Parasite wood carvings from Bali and Indonesia. I bought mine new in early 90's .

Manikin, thank you for the link to the parasite wood carvings. When you bought yours, was there a name for the piece, or was it too commercialiced for an individual identity.
No name with it I bought it at a import store locally in US and I remember it was 79.00 dollars back then . I also have 3 monkeys from same place .
Manikin, thanks so much. I guess the mystery is over. I appreciate your help.
Your very welcome :-) yes it is solved
