Trying to identify. Any help is appreciated. Phone has been stored in a basement for who knows how long. Perhaps it is rare enough that someone wants to restore it.
Stamped on a small plate under the mouthpiece: Western Electric Company 229W
On the back is marked: Patented in U.S.A. Nov 1 '92
I believe one similar to this was posted several months ago. Maybe CW under phones.
Is that like an operator phone? Like amini switchboard? I want to know how it works!
What does the label on the phone say?? Inder the mouth piece.
The box is dated 19+20, and say special type 212, right? I sold some telephony to the Telephone Museum in Northern California that burned down last summer. They would know! And they would WANT this. They lost everything.

I found similar phones made by the S.H. Couch Company as an inter-office system.
As I remember, that's what the one posted on CW was.
You have a Western Electric #30 peg dialer Manufactured around 1907, the company also made a peg dialer in a wall phone. the 1892 is the patent date for the transmitter.
Thank you, ttomtucker
How does it work?
