A friend of mine has this...but no idea what it is! Hoping someone can help identify it. The round "spindle like" thing in the center is made of stone..like a sharpening stone....if that's any help.
    Thanks in advance

I believe what you have here is a single sickle blade sharpener. These were used for sharpening the blades of sickle mowers. Sometime in the early 1900s they developed a model that commonly attached to the wheel of the mower. Does it have any identifying numbers or patent numbers?

Thanks for your reply! I have contacted my friend and asked him to look for any numbers/patent numbers and will report back.
      Thanks again....

OK...my friend called and said the Patent # is 86. Hope that helps.
      Thanks
