I recently acquired this small glass topped table that has an extraordinary design. It appears to be a type of oriental design, but it has absolutely no information anywhere on the (removable) table top or table base. In addition to the beautiful design, it is made of some kind of very heavy material. As you can see in the images, it appears to have a yellowish-orange color. There are a few small nicks in the piece and the material underneath the outside color is a very white colored material.

If anyone can tell me how to figure out what material was used to make this table or any additional information about the piece, it would be extremely appreciated. I don't even have a clue where to begin or where I could take it for someone to tell me. This is not intended to be any type of "request for appraisal," just simply want to know more about this intriguing piece of furniture I have acquired.

The pedastal design looks to be Chinese and, from what I can see from the bright white chip in the table edge where the top fits, this table is made from resin.

Possibly made in Italy. I am not sure that your base belongs with the top because the designs are vastly different.

Here is a pair with the same tops but different bases.

      Dear Efesgirl:

Thank you for responding so quickly! I noticed that the top's design did not appear to match the base; at first look it is difficult to notice because they are the same color and could even be the same material! Even though the top doesn't seem to specifically match the base, I still think it could be worth at least something with the design and other of the table's qualities.

Again, I sincerely appreciate your response! :)

You're welcome. Taking another look, I see that the carriage top has tassels which could mean it's also supposed to be oriental. Maybe it does belong together - I didn't find any others with that pedestal design. Hard to say what the Italians were thinking! Either way, it's a pretty object.
