Any normal walk on the Beach is fun. There is always different shells, and sometimes other goodies? It looked to be a rock of somekind, so I put it in the collection bag. What I liked best was the fossils on the outside. Oh, by the way Huntington State Park in S.C. is neat. Back to the rock. I brought it in the house and looked at it under the magnifying glass. It is full of neat little shells, tried to pry one off with a knife, and the crust cracked. Well I had to keep going, and to my suprise I found this small metal cylinder inside. It is 2.5" long X 5/8" Dia. So, my question is, what is the rock or whatever, and how lond did it take to form around the cylinder. Neat find.

It's a mini gas cylinder cartridge which had coral growing around it. The growth speed depends on what sort of coral this is.
