I found this at an estate sale the other day. I was done shopping until I checked this thing out. Isn't it kind of cool? Crackled glass "water," waves on the side, its just like a swimming pool! I don't think it would be as cool if the glass wasn't pooled to one side, that sort of adds the artistic touch that it needs to become "cool" and interesting.
Its pretty big and heavy, 12" x 9", 5" tall. The rough ceramic used reminds me a lot of stuff I see from Italy, so that's my best guess. What do you guys think?
I've never, ever seen such a thing. How interesting.
That's so cool.
what a cool piece!! could be california too. i've seen some w/ those pools of crackled glass in them.
Oh yeah, duh, California... They didn't have swimming pools in Italy in the 60's. What am I thinking. Its probably California studio pottery huh? Thanks ho2cultcha!
I agree, California. It's not a small studio imo, but a better known mid-sized company. You might have some luck leafing through one of the California pottery books. Combed exterior paired w/ pooled glass interior should help nail down an ID.
