Saturday morning I saw these beauties on shop window and though it seems to me that the price of U$ 15 was high I had never seen something like this before. Searching on the web found these are spun glass figurines. Spun glass is blown glass in which fine threads of glass form the surface texture. They are used mainly as souvenirs in baby showers or in the Xmas tree for the first festivity of a new born. The woven, lacework or however you can refer to it recall the knitted baby shoes, you can see the detail in the picture. They sparkle a lot, with or without flash (first and second pictures). No matter what they always catch the light. The gilt is most probably gold, here something similar http://www.ebay.com/itm/Spun-Glass-Baby-Carriage-Stroller-24-Karat-Gold-Plated-Ornament-Figurines-/231960623068 .
Any comment will be appreciated. Thanks for looking.
