Got this from a young woman's garage sale. She had nothing to say about it. I was struck by the colors and decided I had to have it. Has a smoothed pontil. Hoping someone out there has some ideas about it, since the color is distinctive, and workmanship is very good.

    Thanks for stopping by.

Looks like something for the dining table to hold the napkins.

That's really pretty, Deano. I haven't seen anything quite like it before. A Google image search didn't turn up anything.

looks like aqua or emerald crest by FENTON

I thought it looked like Fenton, too, until I turned it over and had a look at the pontil. As we all know, the pontil on Fenton pieces, are always completely smoothed, so as to eradicate them completely. Not so with this piece, the 4th photo shows that the pontil is still plainly evident, which creates the mystery. I am very happy at the attention this piece is getting, and I thank you all.

If that is a posey holder - you would definitely need a spiked flower frog. That's why I don't think it's a napkin holder (though it sure could be used as one!) The bottom is more vase-like. Maybe it's multi-purpose. Here's one in Ireland.

      These seems to be european.

Here's a Murano - unruffled, but same foot.

OOh! Look at this one! Yeah - I'm gonna go with Murano. But they also call them a letter holder.

Wow Celiene!! Talk about above the call of duty. What a great job! The Lime one and the Brown one are very comparable to mine, but when I took a look at the 2nd pair, I'm not sure what to think because they are so different and mine is more like the 1st pair. Based on what you have found out, what do you think?

I did a google search on 'fan shaped napkin holder'. Quite a lot there. They're confused, it's either a napkin holder or a letter holder.

I pooled another online resource and I am starting to think it is czech. I've had that sneaking suspicion that it was since I first got it. Czech glass, yes or no, I'd like to hear.....

And here I thought you were wanting to know what it was, when what you really wanted was to know what kind of glass it is, you should have let me know earlier.
      ;>))

Well, I don't know exactly what to say, I never thought about the difference in the two. Since I had napkin holder in the title of the post, I never thought that way until just this instant. Darn. Sorry to anyone who I led astray.

      Whoever made it-it's very pretty.

Thank you Celiene. I think so too. I got additional input from a man who's grandmother passed one down to his mother. He talked with his mother about it and she said that due to grandmothers travels in the 50's, she thinks it is entirely possible that it came from Czechoslovakia. The Grandmother had hers for a very long time before handing it down. I appreciate you efforts, they were not for naught.
