So I have seen Jagsrock and Jericho's posts with examples of these large Kralik vases and drooled with envy. I have never come across these pieces on auction sites here in Europe; until last week. When I spotted this with the following description - I've translated "vintage orange vase of multi layer glass." So at £23 I just had to get the first bid in and just wait and watch for 7 days..... 6 days later and 1 day to go and I'm the only watcher and the only bidder, I couldn't believe it. 2 hours to go and there's another watcher.....damn! 3 seconds to go and I threw in my max bid (I'm not saying what that was). In the blink of an eye it was MINE!!! Yaay!!! No other bids so it was mine for a song.
Described in his own words as the 'Punch Bag Vase' by Jericho, it is a huge 14" (36cm) tall and almost 8" wide and the webbing is quite complex, not like other more simple Kralik webbed pieces.
It's by far the biggest piece of Kralik in my collection - I'm just loving this one - it's big enough to hug!
I know what you mean in every word of the above. Love it!
Thanks Ian, I know, you know, what I mean!
Jericho, Jags, Mac, Gluechip, Al... The list of enviable collections goes on and on! Peggy's has to be no. 1 for me owing to its proximity to my own!
Yep check, check and check again - inspiring collections - I'm including yours too Ian, you have some lovely pieces. I also see we compete for pieces from time to time.
UNBELIEVABLE !!!
What a STUNNER !!!
Exceptional! I am so gobsmacked by this - the depth in that pattern is beautiful.
Thanks Karen, yes it is exceptional almost psychedelic! Such a great find for me. I still can't get over how or why it was missed by so many others.
Ok i got it, lucky I did't see this one, very fine one for sure, beautiful piece.
Regards
Alan
I thought you would like it!
a musterpiece I would love to have it in my hands and feel the glass
yeah....it gives you a warm feeling all over!!!
How did I miss this! If I'd seen it you'd have had competition. It's wonderful. Well done. Every now and again one can get a bargain online.. You just have to find it, lol
Thanks Fran, clearly it wasn't just you that missed it - must have been my lucky day (or week)!
Hahaha, I love this shape and it looks like it's melting: )
When I got my first one if these I couldn't stop hugging it!
Tree hugger/glass hugger same thing really ...
I love the way its melting (like Jericho pointed out). Great piece...and extra special when you get it for a "song". :)
