      The wood doesn't have the tone for something anywhere near that old. Have you refinished it.

      It was black... my husband refinished it as a surprise...
      I hit the roof.

      Still not that old. In 400 yrs, the darkness would go all the way thru the wood. Of course looking at pix is one thing & can leave nothing much more than a guess & my guess is 100 yrs max.. Are you doing time for killing your husband ?

      I had contacted an antiqueties museum in England...they dated the chair...advised it would have been a ladies seat as per shape.... provided nothing else..
      We are divorced.
