Old silver war ring with field artillery insignia. I need help identifying, please! It's sterling silver and black onyx with field artillery insignia in the center. Trying to find out how old it is and if was given to a certain unit or what.
Thanks!
Brunswick, are you a mod?(not sure if that's the correct title?)
"Sod" would be closer. Sorry Thomas, but things just clicked. LOL !!
Why havent I gotten any hits on this?
brianfarn06, the photo is very small so hard to help with ID, for one thing, for another, if the military insignia folk here didn't see your thread because it got pushed down the page, or couldn't offer any information, that may be why you didn't get the ID help you were looking for.
Looks to be a Coast Artillery Corps (CAC) insignia. Hard to tell-- a close up would be helpful.
If it is CAC, they were around for about the first half of the 20th century. Their main responsibility was coastal defense of the US (and territories) and manned coastal forts with BIG guns.

Brian, grew up to the sound of artillery in a town very near a range. There was a pharmacy that sold military rings, insignia etc. and I am certain I remember seeing this style rings there as a kid. That would be mid 50's-early 60's. There are hundreds of designs as there are many units over many yrs.. Bon chance
