The Richards "Lamppost" stamp was used from 1934 thru 1982. These knives used the Lohr & Steel (Germany) patent for producing a handle made from a hollow piece of sheet metal, sometimes textured, with a piece of decorated celluloid wrapped around it. The handles are held on by a tab at each end which is folded around the knife's liners. Your knife is not marked "Sheffield Steel". That is a bogus mark used by companies in India to suggest that their inferior cutlery was made in England.
