    Cute little dolls , I find them most often in grab bags in thrift store in the children's toys, I suppose they think they are for small children to play with.

      They were originally produced in Northern Japan and given as souvenirs..they were made as guardians of children ..but of course...meanings have changed since the Edo period.....They are normally painted in the traditional kimono of the area in which it is made....Very neat!!
