    (305 items)

Friday morning's Estate Sale booty. These two are the Pink pair of Latticino Ashtrays. Of the 4, these two look like they've never been used. They are, in my opinion, the better looking of the 4, Latticino wise. These could be described as "Scramble Latticino". The Latticino canes were broken into short pieces and they were used in the molten glass.

1st and 2nd photos show each,
    3rd photo shows them together,
4th photo shows them upside down.

If anyone has any ideas about who actually made these, I'd love to hear.

    Thanks for stopping by.

7/22/16 - Thanks to Dizzydave for the information injection.

I suspect Seguso Archemide for both postings, mate. On the net there is a photo of a green version of these with one of his stickers.

Doing research on these ashtrays, I discovered that that this type glasswork is called "Scramble Latticino". Still haven't tracked down the "Seguso" lead provided by Mr. Vetraio. Hope to find it eventually.

Wish I would have seen this Dino Marten Bowl along time ago! Love His Work!!

Dino was known for the interlacing of the Latticino work.
Heres a ebay link to one of his bowls showing the interlacing Latticino.

Thank you Mr. Dizzy, I have done considerable research on these, but to no avail! I really appreciate your knowing that they are Dino Martens. It's nice knowing I have something nice, but it's much nicer knowing why. Thanks.

      Lovely Bowl, stunning!! Love it

Just a note in regards to the link above to an Ebay item saying yours is a Dino Martens piece....If you note that one in the Ebay link ( shows ) and has a well know FRATELLI TOSO label on it. The Ebay reference is a Fratelli Toso piece. That's all ..... and I can not say your piece is Dino Martens either.

Beautiful as they are Deano, they're not Dino Marten's. Martens used a technique somewhat like this known as Tutti Frutti. Rather than being strictly latticino however, his is a hodgepodge of different designs elements such zanfirico, ribbons, canes, millefiori, gold leaf, and of course latticino. Although a great design with great color, yours are not by Marten's. Also, as Rose stated, the example on eBay has a classic Fratelli Toso label, so that's not Marten's piece either.

Thanks for the thoughts Rick. I'd rather not have incorrect information, that's for sure. Brings me back to the ultimate goal, Who made them? I would love to find out they are Archimede Seguso's, that would be the best for me.

Frankly Deano, I think they're generic. Seguso's lattice work was much more intricate, and I've never seen a piece of his with broken latticino. Here are some examples of his cane work. Mind you that out of the hundreds of examples in his book, these are the only references to this type of design, and they are few and far between and very desirable.

Ok Rick, I can handle that. Generic or not, they seem to have a certain degree of scarcity, as I haven't been able to find any other examples. I'll keep working on it and I expect that one day, the mystery will solve. Thanks for your experience and thoughts, I certainly appreciate them. D.

You're welcome Deano... that's the purpose of CW - to to share our interests with other members and help each other whenever possible. I too have never seen a scrambled (or jumbled as I've also seen them referred to) latticino piece in pink, so I do think you have something special.
