    Hi all,
I have found an old cigarette case that I got at a shop about 15 years ago. I was hoping that someone could tell me something about it. The inscription says "oublier jamaise," 1914-1918. I'm pretty sure that it's steel. Any information on what it is and even some ideas about how to clean it would be wonderful.

I believe it is a veteran's medal. If you look up what the slogan says should tell you more. It's all in French th0ugh! I know we have some CW'ers that will help with the translation.

If it has absolutely no sentimental meaning to you, it's entirely up to you if you decide to clean it. You risk damaging the metal (whatever that may be). It looks quite grimy, and perhaps rusty(?).
