Vintage bottle

I found this ceramic/clay style bottle on the beach on the far west coast of Tasmania, Australia after record high tides. It was covered in barnacles, weed and shells and after a bit of cleaning this is what it came up like. The cork was in it when I found it and had maybe 50ml of water in it also, or at least what I assume was water.
Its approximately 18cm in height.
Any idea on whats its history could be? Where from? How old? etc

Any help would be much appreciated.
