is this a toy ....a sewing spindle ...a bobbin .....attachment ....it's all wood around 4 inches tall ....has 4 metal prongs on top ..,.can you identify thanks danny

We used to call it finger knitting - Wow that sure was a long time ago.
In my part of England we called it French Knitting. Usually ours were homemade.....your Dad hammered four nails into the wooden spool that sewing thread came on. Yes Gillian, long long ago:)

Oh my - French knitting! I really don't remember for sure if it was finger knitting or French knitting - they both sound very familiar.
