    Hi CW Gang:

I was going throught some old papers here I had printed off back in 2012. Sorry pics were only printed out in B & W. I had printed this out and was wondering why this ring hit such a high price? I see lots of these types of rings here -- and is this a common price? ** This is a PAST AUCTION FROM 2012 AND BIDDING HAS BEEN OVER FOR 4 YEARS NOW**

So when I was trying to research my Jade Ring ( has Silver and China ) on the back -- I had printed off this info as the BACK OF THIS RING looked much the same as mine. Sure I realize you can not tell the Jade here in a Black and white photo, but I see so many other rings like this -- and no where at this price. Is there something special here?

Again -- this is a four ( 4 ) year ago sale and bidding has long time been over and done. I am just wondering why this commanded such a price? Sure I realize anything is worth anything -- one is willing to pay, but this just seemed out of the world.

Thanks for LOOKING // LOVING !!

The auction results and ring you are showing is in eBay format.
There are no current returns for 77pudd.
Ring is cast, not carved, and the casting quality is poor.
I can think of no legitimate explanation for 38 bids and the resulting price. At one time early on (I joined eBay in October 1997) there were a number of hoaxes on eBay, sometimes getting national media attention, but that type of activity had been cleared up by eBay long before 2012.
It would be nice if someone could provide an explanation. Keep your photos and good luck.

      Thanks Wexval for your reply.

I have no idea as this was so many years ago that I printed this off only when I was trying to figure out my ring. When going through papers here I stubbed upon it and again wonder why.

I did dig around some more after your reply and there is a seller still on Ebay with that name and seems to sell alot of Asian thing for high bids, and sales. So maybe the explanation is they really, really, really know their Asian collectibles. So maybe there was something more special than I know about that ring they sold here, as all i was trying to do was to figure out info on my ring in the other link.

I do not think this was a Hoax back then, as IF that seller is the same one as now today that I found -- they have lots of Asian thing, high amounts of bids for their items, and very pricey sales............as 60 Bids here:

      http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANTIQUE-CHINESE-JADE-CARNELIAN-SILVERED-METAL-MOUNTED-MAGNIFYING-GLASS-/361527301136

      If the same seller.

So I just posted this question on CW -- as wondering what was special about that ring since there have been others rings posted (like it here) on CW. I am trying to **LEARN** what I am missing in the Explanation of these old Chinese Rings as sometimes

I DUG DEEP into the Tinket-Net ( www ) World and found a old * Color image * of the ring I had posted in the B/W images of here.

      Hope the link still works......?

I was wondering from the b&w pics if the jadeite was of imperial sort...

Wexval pointed out the casting of the mount, and poor quality of it, but in Republic era, old stones were mounted for export, and some very nice pieces turned in common mounts!

Your last link shows a bright deep green, but I doubt it is a genuine jade, so still not understand why it ended so high :-D

Appraisal based on eBay is nonsense.
