I'm done. If you look at the rt coke bottle. On the cap of the bottle the Coca Cola writing ran. Probably best to leave it alone like all of you suggested.

I see a difference, what I have used on signs that the paint isn't much improvable is finish by wiping with linseed oil. Some might not approve but I haven't seen any bad effects on my signs yet and it's been years. I've heard of some people using actual oil or wd40 but I haven't tried it. The linseed oil darkens the dark colors a little more, just try not to wipe from color to color, like red to white.

A guy told me he used naval jelly to brighten a old Pepsi sign that was coverd in what he described as tobacco juice looking rust LOL.

To preserve the rust and keep it from deteriorating further, and to make the colors POP!, try having someone spray it with oil based clear polyurethane. That's what I do on any porcelain signs that have rust areas- once I've polished them up and gotten rid of any marks, paint, surface scratches,.... The polyurethane will also cover up most of the smaller scratches that are not all the way through the sign.
