Releaf decor is something I made up to describe how I think these pieces were made. The piece is clear cased on both sides with a strong Tango base color. The next layer is very thin and bright red with powder-like grains softening the design. So how was the powder design applied? was it poured out like a through a small nozzle? was powder sprinkled through a stencil? was the pattern laid out like a mandala on a table and the glass bubble rolled over it? or was it placed in a metal mold?
Mold hypothesis:
The mold would have the design engraved in relief- it could have been sprayed with an oxide and cleaned out to leave the pattern in the grooves. The piece is about 9" by 10" and is very heavy. The maker? Ill take guesses but we know (as certain as we can know) that Ruckl, Kralik, Welz and others all used the powder decor on different kinds glass products

This shape has an amazing sililarity to a recent post with a decor clearly associated with Welz production. Not making any attributions, just observing a likeness in shape.

Yes - I was pretty convinced by the shape link.
Base 12.2cm diameter.
Max diameter 24cm.
"Neck" 14cm diameter.
Rim 10.4cm across.
20.5cm tall.

Looking forward to seeing updated measurements. Totally intrigued by the POSSIBILITY of this being a Welz decor!
A series of posts in this forum and also in my Welz group on facebook have finally revealed that this decor, and the powder decor Jericho posted the other day in white and blue that I commented on, are now determined to be production by Welz.
Whatever the faults of the internet this is it's strength.....the ability to exchange images around the world and thus further knowledge.

I think that my favorite part of this discovery, is that I really had very little to do with it. I have had an interest in these decors for a while, but the work of identifying them, and the shape matches and decors that did so, were the result of other people's interest in the line of glass and expanding our knowledge of it.
I am proud of the work I have done on Welz over the last 12+ years. I am constantly amazed at the amount of interest, and the discoveries made by others regarding the subject. I am even more proud of the community of collectors that have an interest, share their time and information, and in doing so created a community which has resulted in many discoveries involving Welz that may have never been uncovered with out the help.
I think as an overall, that is the greatest reward from all of this.
I'm very interested to hear more about the Welz attribution. It's been my hunch for some time and I'm glad the shape resurfaced in discussion. (I am not on FB)
Simple ones are 7 1/2” tall by 8 1/2” wide
Other measurements:
Bottom lobe 4 1/2” tall
Middle lobe 2” tall
Top section 1” tall
Mouth 3 7/8” wide
Base 4 7/8” wide
Glass thickness at rim 1/4”
Bottom to the widest point in the glass is 3”
