This letter opener was also made from a driving band, but it has additional silver metal added for the handle. It measures 10" long.
The blade portion has a simplistic leaf and berry engraving.
One side is engraved with the makers information: Prisoner of War Willy Bredel of Company 8.
The other side has information on the purchaser"K.F. Lawson" and "1918 France 1919".
Lawson was an Infantryman from the Northeast US-- I don't recall the state right now. In addition to this item, I have a named and engraved shell of his, paperwork, photos and his dogtags.
