Veniamo alle conclusioni: l'oggetto di figura è un talismano moderno (quelli originari erano di rame) che si richiama alla tradizione filippina che va sotto il nome di anting-anting e si serve di un linguaggio e di una simbologia un po' oscura per attrarre gli sprovveduti. L'interpretazione dei simboli fornita nella presente relazione va intesa alla stregua di un esercizio di buona volontà poiché lo scrivente non possiede specifica conoscenza in materia esoterica. Posto che il tondello sia d'argento, il valore venale del talismano dovrebbe di poco superare quello dell'argento in esso contenuto, circa 40,00€ (se argento 900)

Anting-anting (ovvero agimat o bertrud) è la parola filippina per amuleto (v. link) ma, in senso traslato, indica anche un sistema di magia o stregoneria basato sui talismani. Etimologicamente, nel sud-est asiatico, la parola anting-anting è il pendente, l'orecchino. Le radici mitiche dell'anting-anting risalgono alla lotta per la sopravvivenza che gli indigeni delle Filippine condussero contro l'invasore spagnolo. Indossando talismani, essi ritenevano di diventare invulnerabili. All'arma in dotazione, il Kriss, attribuivano virtù magiche (v. link) tanto che per alcuni il kriss assurgeva a simbolo di stato sociale. Faceva parte del sistema anting-anting anche un'arte marziale filippina (per la storia delle Filippine e della tribù dei Moro si veda anche il link). Nel corso del tempo l'anting-anting ha subito contaminazioni dovute all'influsso della cultura cattolica spagnola e ha introitato elementi della simbologia massonica; la sua sfera protettiva si è estesa anche al campo commerciale, nella credenza che il possesso di un anting-anting possa garantire al portatore benessere e successo in quel campo. I contatti con l'America hanno aperto ai talismani filippini la strada dell'esportazione sul mercato globale (v. link). Gli esemplari di cui ai link 1/2/8/9 di cui sopra sono commercializzati via ebay dalla società Dekada Collectibles and Antiques con sede nelle Filippine, mentre gli esemplari 5/7 sono venduti dalla società statunitense Heritageartcenter. Un talismano gemello di quello in esame è descritto nel link 1; gli altri talismani descritti nei link sviluppano tematiche e tipi non molto diversi da quello di figura.
(2) PATRIARCA SEÑOR SAN JOSÉ VIRTUD DE COMMERCIO. La prima parte di questa leggenda appare un po' ambigua se ci si ferma alla traduzione letterale; nella lingua italiana non ha molto senso parlare di patriarca signore san José. Credo che la leggenda sia stata accorciata per ragioni di spazio, omettendo la congiunzione. Declinandola per esteso la leggenda diventerebbe "Patriarca y señor san José ", dunque "san José patriarca e signore" (esattamente come nel link). La seconda parte della leggenda, VIRTUD DE COMMERCIO (di commercio) è associabile a san José (San Giuseppe in Italia), in quanto patrono del commercio (v. link). Qui però si presenta una questione semantica: nella lingua spagnola, la parola commercio si scrive con una sola "M" e quindi viene il sospetto che i moderni produttori di amuleti filippino-americani abbiano sbagliato più o meno intenzionalmente a trascrivere la parola.

(4 "T.D - Y.D". Per l'interpretazione di queste quattro lettere osservo che, unite insieme (TDYD), si presentano (v. link pag. 20/354) come la traslitterazione nell'alfabeto latino dell'ebraico che significa "giver of existence" (che dà la vita"). Dunque la Provvidenza, rappresentata dai simboli sovrapposti del sole, del triangolo e dell'occhio che vede tutto, è colei che dà la vita. Aggiungo che l'occhio della Provvidenza è entrato a far parte della simbologia massonica ed è presente nelle banconote americane da 1,00$ (v. link).
(5) L'immagine dell'arcangelo Gabriele che suona la tromba e annuncia la resurrezione sembra rimandare al passo biblico (Corinzi 15:51-52 v. link): "Ecco, io vi dico un mistero: non tutti morremo, ma tutti saremo mutati, in un momento, in un batter d’occhio, al suono dell’ultima tromba. Perché la tromba suonerà, e i morti resusciteranno incorruttibili, e noi saremo mutati."
(6) Anche la falce di luna con le stelle si ricollega alla simbologia massonica (v. link).
(7) 1001 è una data misterica in quanto nell'immaginario medioevale l'ingresso nel nuovo millennio era associato al timore della fine del mondo.
