Antique American Chair with caned seat needs I.D.

These chairs came to me from my mother. Over 20 years ago, she and I had been together when she bought them at a shop that specializes in antique American furniture. I unfortunately can't remember anything we were told about them. I replaced the pressed caned seats myself. They are really nice chairs and I would love to know more about how to characterize them. There are no marks on the chairs. I believe they are walnut.
