Here is a pair of cast iron oil cans. The one has a pat. date of Sept. 16, 1884 (that was a Tuesday, by the way). The last photo is of my hand friend gripping the oil can. I use this ploy at engine shows. It teaches the children to look with their eyes instead of looking by touch. It also helps with careless adults who are unaware of the dangers of moving machinery.
P.S.
If you want to win a bet at a bar or party, pick an item that has a full dated pat. on it. Tell your unsuspecting friends that the date listed was a Tuesday. You will undoubtingly find someone who doubts your dating ability (not to be confused with the opposite sex type of dating) and challenge you to a wager on it's validity. You will indeed win the bet, after they look it up on their smart phone.
You see, all Patents (except for the very first years) were issued and are still issued on a Tuesday, but, don't tell the loser. Wait for another patsy.
They are good looking cans.
You possibly should have switched off the cut off saw before oiling it....
