    Bought this large painting today for a song. Every time I look at it I like it even more. The detail of it is amazing.

    I have no idea on the artist though. The second picture is of what looks to be the signature which may just be initials and what looks like 55. Painted in 1955? The frame for the canvas has lots of writing on it in pencil which is mostly unreadable. I was able to make out one word, Kunstma...., which i think is "Kunstmaler", German for artist. Underneath that is "czin...." Then written in sharpie is "Tom Brennan J182 gold Wood Round"

      Your painting shows the lovely small town of Brienz located at the 'Brienzer See' (lake of Brienz) in Swizerland.

      Tom would be who had ordered frame "Gold Round" style of frame. Maybe Military Guy? Is it stapled onto stretcher?
