I received this wonderful Butterfly brooch from France as a gift from a CW member . It is marked sterling and made in England ,but I am not sure what wings are actually made of . It is quite heavy and gorgeous . CW has created so many friendships and that is what keeps us together all these years .

This is gorgeous! Victorian period, I believe. The tube hinge looks like it's hand made. The wings are made from the actual butterfly wings of the Morpho butterfly.

I think this one is rather a kind of blue foil used to look like morpho wings, at least no animal was harmed to make the brooch.

Hi Efsgirl ,kyratango sent me the brooch so she has seen it in person :-) So I think no butterfly was harmed to make it even though it really was made to look like a real wing .

Lovely morpho butterflywings brooch. You can search on CW for morpho butterflywings and you will see some more jewelry. I have posted some, but not as nice as yours. Lovely!
Be careful with sunlight and damp, the wings are delicate.

Good Morning kyratango, I will look and try to help . Bears are very hard to ID makers as there were so many and it might just be a stitch that is clue. Most often you see attributed to so and so because without tags it is hard to be sure :-( Hope all is well with you too xoxo
