Without a doubt there has always been a strong Asian influence in California. In the Society of California Pioneers it is no different. The entire museum is full of Chinese and Japanese art and antiques.
These are woodblock prints with an ink overlay. They all feature the Japanese spirit, Kami.
The image on the left shows Kami causing wind to blow while the figures clutch onto clothing. The middle images shows Kami dumping rain on the figures with umbrellas. The image on the right shows Kami creating weather that knocks a woman over while others run away.
