Hello everyone.
This one is a real favourite of mine......bought on line a few years ago.....actually did not realize it was an angel until I had a good look when it arrived.....was not really into cameos.....but being silver made me think it was lovely!!!
It is hallmarked with the old Australian (and New Zealand I believe) sterling silver mark which is STG SIL in two places on the back.
It is I think, beautifully made, and the silver has worn to that really soft and silky smooth feel....if you know what I mean!!
The back is concave and the front stands out a bit ( I can't remember what that is called lol). The silver chain is original to it....I love these old push in clasp chains.
The pendant is 1 and 1/4 inch high x 1 inch wide.
In comments I will post a link to show you a painting by GUIDO RENI that I think this cameo was modeled after, and also a link to a cameo site that has the same angel on a shell cameo.
Hope you like seeing this one and any comments on time frame for the pendant being made would be most appreciated.....I was thinking Art Nouveau........Thanks, Judy
