I recieved this from my mother-in-laws estate when she passed. I have no idea of where it came from, age or value. Anyone have any idea. There are no markings I can find. Thank you.

I didn't mention that the poppy design and edge of the bowl are real silver like it was applied when it was made...REALLY DYING TO KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT!

I believe it may be a fostoria, platinum rimmed decorative piece from the 1950's.

...btw, it is heavy and kept awayyyyy from my boys reach.....can I polish the silver/platinum? It looks like tarnish in a couple spots.....

This is Caprice pattern made by Cambridge Glass Co of Ohio beginning in the 194o's until the factory closed in the late 50's. The silver overlays were usually done by a separate decorating company. Your silver poppies design is called Flanders and is attributed to the Silver City decorating company. The Caprice pattern is collected and fairly easy to find. You can find numerous pieces on eBay and other online sites. This pattern can also be found at most good antique malls, antique shops and depression glass shows. You will find a wide range of prices depending on the rarity of the piece. The color blue in this pattern is the most collected. The pattern was made in other colors but the other colors are hard to find.

Wow, thanks soooo much Dorothy. The bowl isn't blue though. That is the reflection of the light in my dining room. I shall look this up as soon as I get a chance. This is sooo fantastic to find this out. It is sooo difficult finding info on anything when there is no markings to go by. Thank you again. This is why I just love this site!
