I have been spending a lot of time with my Husband's grandfather. I have been helping him move he tells me stories and it's genuinely fun. He lost his wife and he would talk about her ALOT. I never had the pleasure of meeting her. He told me he knew there was a wedding album up there and had not seen it in 50 years. Well, I got that album and boy was it something. In the same box and an adjacent one we found all his wife's Knick knacks, Lamps that were a wedding present from HIS mother in 1950. I guess they moved into that house 30 years ago put the boxes up there and never gave it a second thought. Now I have been studying Material culture my entire adult life. This was AMAZING! Now the luster ware and figurines are in impeccable condition. The lamps have seen better days. The shades are so delicate the material disintegrates when touched. There is a layer of dust you would not Believe! I am so happy for him and that he was able to remember all over again. He really wants to decorate his new home with his new found treasures. I need to have the items restored. How, who, where would I begin?
If you like dealing with really obnoxious people, you might try that "Rick's Restorations" in Vegas. Good luck. You don't even say what area you live in.
