The art looks like Maxfield Parrish or a similar sytle.-( is there a figure in it?- ---and I can't read the lettering on the bottom, or see your photos very well.)

I see a figure when I enlarged it--But Max Parrish, I think, would have had a semi- nude there--not the rustic. Altho, I sure have not seen that many M.P.--so what do I know??

it is in the style of Maxfield Parrish - which was Japanese, really. Although he did lots of paintings which did not include semi-nude figures, this does not look like his work to me. but it is definitely from the same period - and very nice! i wish the photos were more clear. i can't even make out the words below the images.

I replied to this post, and pooooof it's gone.

Anyway, this is a Tryptich painting. If you could manage to restore it or even a clean I'm sure it would look great. The writing says: "The noblest mind, and the best ???entertainment ????" Poop!

      Upon further inspection....

      Artist: c1947 Crisp
      Arthur Watkins Crisp, (Canadian/American, 1881-1974)

      Quote: Spenser (1600s poet)
'the noblest Mind...the best Contentment has'

Question now, how the 'triptych' came together with both and from where?

The artist was well known as:
Arthur Crisp - Artist, Fine Art Prices, Auction Records for Arthur Crisp
http://www.askart.com/artist/Arthur_Watkins_Crisp/27426/Arthur_Watkins_Crisp.aspxaskART, an artist directory with millions of worldwide artists' paintings and art ... Arthur Crisp is known for public and business commissioned mural painting, ...

Will post a better picture this eve....thank you all!
