I got these recently added in the state sale in Canada. They're clearly antique. The woman told me for sure they were from Mexico. They sure look like their Chinese to me. Did anybody have any idea? thank you
Not antique. The marks on the base above the script appear to be Asian. Perhaps one of the Asian experts here can help you with these.
Made in Mexico by Chinese ? AH, made in China by Mexicans (The great wall didn't keep them out there either !). How about, made in U.S.A. by Chinese/Mexicans ? LOL !!
i like them, but they look brand new to me.
Rub something dark (ashes or other dark powder) into the marks on the bottom - they are not readable because they are too light and the photo is sideways. The bottom mark looks like script.
It could be a Vietnamese pottery piece sometimes called Dona ceramics.
mp.kunst, that is what I was going to say, apparently when Vietnam was French Indonesia, they had a company who produced ceramics much like in the style of a French colorful products, and they were sometimes mistaken for that. It looked like cloisonne, with deep separations in the pottery lines of the motifs between colors.
